In my unending quest for things to do or at least daydream about, I note from the Empire Football League (cheesy merchandise here) that Watertown New York's Red and Black play Ottawa's Deacon Demons in Watertown on August 14th and in Ottawa on September 25th at the Napean Sportsplex. This is semi-pro US rules football (even though a Canadian team is in the league) which mainly represents towns and small cities in and neighbouring northern New York State. Ottawa's URL still says "Montreal Condors" - they are entering their second year of the continuation of that team. The Watertown team must be one of the older continuously operating sports teams in North America entering their 109th season. Last year they had a 9-2 record and played in the EFL championship game losing to the cursed Glenns Falls Greenjackets [Ed.:spit, spit, pitooo-ie]. Ottawa went 4-7 in 2003 which was a hell of a lot better than the Green Mountain Gladiators out of Burlington Vermont and their record of 0-10.
