Gogo Burn, Largs Scotland, April 1986
Mom's from Largs. Haven't been for 17 years. When I did go as a backpacker, it was largely in the pubs. When I got the job here I had a trip planned there and had to eat the four tickets. I am more ticked that I didn't get to have coffee at Nardini's.

We went to Largs for the first time in Aug 2003, whilst staying in Paisley.
It was a very hot day, we had lunch at Nardini's, panini and of course ice-cream. Whiskey flavoured for me - wonderful.
The decor in Nardini's is a bit tatty but we just love 1930's style (our house was built in 1930).
I could live in Largs !

[here's a business development slogan that never was: "I could live in Largs but for..."]
Nardini's was a bit tatty in the 70's and 80's too but I am informed by me mither that the furniture was still the same as in the late 40's when she might go there to hear a band. Wicker chairs and a table big enough for a stack of newspapers. I remember having a Cafe Royal for about 6 bucks Canadian in around '86. Grannie was in the nursing home next door so I parked myself there before or after a visit.
Whisky flavoured ice-cream. Dandy.

Worthy of note:Close to the home of Sam Torrance, the Ryder Cup hero that mastermined the defeat of the Yankees.

It is the birthplace of Sammy, whose Dad and my grandpa were acqauintances as are uncle and Sammy. It is a town of only about 1000 I think so not unlikely. Also Gallagher and Lyle, 70's pop group one of whom was instrumental in the recreation of Tina Turner. But Nardinis is really the jewel in the crown.
