There are things you need and things you think you need and things you know you don't need and then once in a while there is something hanging right there on the cusp like a CD of incidental music to the 1960's UK marionette sci-fi show Thunderbirds. Dandy tribute site here. I am more of a Captain Scarlet / Joe 90 guy myself.
Captain Scarlet's premise is so freaky I freak myself out thinking about it even now. By accident during a scientific experiement, we kill off the population of the Mysterons - who secretly live on MARS!!! Oh. my. God. We are about to it live out in real life.
Every week they kill off Captain Scarlet, agent of Spectrum (Ed.:logo as illustrated left) only to bring him back to life the next week...to kill him again. Over and over and over. Groundhog Day with aliens...and death. And this is a kid's show. Somebody tell NASA.

I suppose it all depends on your real feelings towards Thunderbirds.
As I indicated in one of my recent blog entries I was raised on the works of Gerry Anderson.
Probably my favourite was Fireball XL5 - They've just release the complete set of XL5 programmes on DVD and I was tempted to shell out the 40 quid for them and then thought, do I really want my childhood memories tainted with cold reality ?
I decided no, thus retaining the rose-tinted effect in my mind.
I rest my case :-)

I agree. I got satellite TV in my old farm house lined the kiddies together to share Captain Scarlet and then watched a tank battle on mars with deth all around. It was switched off not because it was wring so much as the look on the three year old's face. I think they are better than camp but also for an older crowd. Did you watch UFO, the 21st century show with real actors? Around 1970-71.

I certainly did watch UFO.
With Peter Gordino (a dancer) and Ed Bishop I think.
Probably look very dated now.

Hi there,
just read you were talking about Ed Bishop and UFO. May I recommend the www.isoshado.org website (with a comprehensive sub-section in English), where you will find many recent picts of Mr. Bishop (who happens to be also the President of our organisation)?
The UFO tv series has been recently released on DVD in various countries and feedbacks are generally positive. To me it does not look very dated at all.
Thank you & bye.
