I have been chasened. Via e-mail. Chastised by a pro at chastisement - as anyone who has been given a telling off by Ms. Gregory of Winnipeg, a person of AG's aquaint. You see, I lumped Alison Gzowski (as illustrated) with Frum and Leahette the other day. I have been told it was a schmoly thing to do and now I agree. I have learned that, unlike wee David Frum, she never never advocates pre-emptive war in memos to her employers and, unlike little Leahette McLaren, has never bored a nation with her borderline alcoholism and deep set vanity. In fact Alison Gzowski is a books editor at the Globe and Mail which means she has to read poor writing by earnest people and potentially has to experience Leahette at the Xmas party monopolizing the punch bowl.
I understand that books are another form of media that are cool. They are exceptionally cool if only for the fact that editing them became the chosen work of Pete Townsend after his life as a reunion tour artist. As a result, Alison's Gzowsky joins Oor Wullie and Elvis Costello on the GX40 HQ rec room's Wall of Reasonable Respectability. A commemorative cheese tray will be winging her way depending on the amount of Canadian Tire money I can scrape together.
