I need a better camera. Tonight you can see separate lights in Watertown as well as the bright lights of Oswego as well as another shore town. Last New Years we could see the glow of Rochester far to the south east. My no zoom 3.1 pixel is defeated by this phenomenon. All I can give you is this:
Click on the pic for a bigger scene. The bright orange to the left of the red lights at center is Watertown NY 25+1+6+4 miles away. Even in this coarse photo you can see width and have a sense of the separate lights to be seen. The dim dim orange to the left of that is a road heading towards Watertown which I have never seen before from here. It is all crystal clear tonight to the naked eye.

Try using a tripod for these kind of night pictures, Alan.

This late afternoon from the top of the dome here at work you can see a horizon well past the Tug Hill plateau behind Watertown which I would guess to be nearish to Syracuse. To the left, just beyond in a little to the left of in-line with these two harbour martellos, you can see irrgularity in the horizon which I would think is the Adirondacks.<p>It is not a bit of a pet project to see if you can see White Face at Lake Placid from any high points in town here.
