The pool stats are up. It is amazing to see how much work Adam puts into the systems without having ever met me (who would have thought that being a bro-in-law of my ex law school roommate carried such pull).
Anyway, please note that the goalie points are added from day one and fluctuate throughout the playoffs. So, the goalie who gets the shut-out in game one gives that player 100 points. That will drop. Similarly, my goalie starts play tonight so I have no points so far.
Also, by clicking on the name of each team you can see the picks for each player in the pool. You will see that Nils Ling's failure to appreciate the inevitability of Red Wings scoring means that today is the last day he will see me from any angle other than the protologist's. Good also to see that last year's winner, brother D. McLeod, is wallowing already.

43 teams, by the way, is amazing as well. If anyone wants to chat about themselves or the game, taunt Habs fans or make fun of anyone's picks please feel free. Maybe I will make a hockey pool chat area - any interest?

I was going to point out the amazing insight and increased sex-appeal of everyone who picked Raycroft as their goalie (go Boston), but that kind of talk usually gets one in trouble later.... so I'll refrain!

No no, go right ahead.

Definitely interest in a hockey chat area. Think Adam did a fabulous job on the pool - considering being hacked by somebody in Romania only days before. Next year, he will add on the function of allowing more information about the people who are in the pool. It is strange not knowing who I am about to cream (though kiprisoff will certainly need to improve some play!)!....

Blah. blah, blah - Just 'cause my picks suck now (and they do) doesn't mean I pick wrong. Habs and Sens....ssssasfaskjfkjwkejg;zsdktgjew....[my head hurts].

being the hockey junky that I am I assumed I wouldn't be embarassing myself yet in this thing, but I certainly didn't expect to be in first. Wow. If only I was doing this well in my other pools.

It is the tease of the goalie stat. If your pick were to be injured before completing the fifth gam, all the points disappear. If he takes a pounding in the second round, they drop.
Adam - April 12, 2004 12:25 PM
Marcia pointed out that the 5 game minimum for goalies may be too restrictive.... what if a starting goalie gets swept in 4, but played pretty well.... shouldn't that be a legitimate pick?
Alan - April 12, 2004 4:20 PM
It is kind of mandatorally arbitrary in that a number was picked that got you into a second round on a sweep. Are there any goaldies under threat of missing the five? It would be against the principles of the rule of law and natural justice to shift the rules after picks closed.

Note: Let's move this discussion to the special hockey chat room....boys!

Indeed. I am going to close off this thread from the active conversations but reference that move there.
