


From this web site of great old comic ads. I think I had half a dozen of the apollo models which had about three snap together pieces. I always wanted the box of green soldiers - little green plastic B-52s set against billowing summer clouds. Not the ghost, though. I think I had nightmares about the ghost when I was five.

There was an ad for a toy tank that was big enough to get inside - oooh did I want that tank but could not raise the cash. I did order the soldiers - they were an especially cheesy lot. I now think that the tank mught have been a let down

My brother ordered the soldiers too and, yep, they were <i>really</i> cheesy - almost two dimensional, not at all like the pic. We couldn't believe how small the box was when it arrived. I have never trusted mail order since.

I always wanted the sub. Actually, I wanted the x-ray glasses but I knew there was no such thing. Submarines though, submarines were real.

Here is a great link to even older comics from the 1940s. Why isn't everything being scanned as part of a visual library?
