I am not so much thinking of the topic David Frum chooses to write about but the blantantly and unsatisfyingly naive simplicity of his reasoning: society (which I think is acknowledged by him to be complex) should not do something new because it will expose society to its own complexity and that would be ill advised...for reasons not shared with the reader.
I can't imagine getting a passing grade in an undergrad paper with that line of logic.
