Left: A sad street scene from Halifax last week
I heard over the weekend from my buddy Darren that our pals Bruce and Alena out in Jeddore were particularly hammered by Juan. Their house sits in spruce woods on a coastal cliff looking south east out at the Ocean. I guess the forest there is a mess. When they bought the place I told Bruce one day after a hurricane he'd be looking up at seaweed in the trees. Many of those trees are gone now. Their phone is still out so, if you are near, showing up unannounced with a chainsaw and a pie would not go amiss.
Seeing this story on CBC Halifax enforced again how powerful this storm was. Darren was was saying 170 km gusts in the harbour that night.
Later: More great pictures from Halifax including the best set of losses at the Public Gardens I have come across yet.

It looks like Jeddore is looking at at least tomorrow according to NS Power - and that is for the main drag, not the roads down the sides of the Eastern shore deep bays.

Care of AOV, a great slide show on Juan.
