Snow

Throughout my undergrad years, my friend Rob would take bets on the first snow day and write each year's guesses on the inside of his winter jacket as a record of both the accuracy of his pals' guessing capacities and the actual date of the first snow. Kingston received its first couple of centimetres last night while I hear our old stomping grounds in Pembroke was expecting twenty. With indoor parking the prospect of snow is not really much of a problem. In PEI, we paid a local farmer 175 bucks a winter to plow the lane a couple of times a day with his big industrial blower when the drifts covered the cars. I'd be surprised here in the sunny south if we'll ever get anything like that as we are between snow belts as well as that little bit warmer than towns 50 km in any direction.
