I had a look at their site and its page of record covers and I immediately wanted socks and curtains by whoever designed their stuff. I see these thing so differently since I well spent time with Fontman.
Music. I had only seen passing reference to the band British Sea Power in an a recent club listing in The New Yorker. They are new and I don't think just new as a 40 year old guy knows new but not so new that I am surprising Google. They played the Horseshow one night a few weeks ago on their only Canadian stop on their first short North American tour. I picked up their first CD, The Decline of British Sea Power (illus.) this lunch hour and I have played it about 3 times so far. It is an interesting amalgam of much familiar much 1980 in it - vocals like Bowie meets Jacob Dylan meets Springsteen. Noisy bits like the Pixies and Frippish guitars, the very hooky "Carrion" owed much to Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" sound. And a 14 minute track, "Lately". Something of The Jam in "Remember Me" - that's maybe pushing it but only because I love the Jam. It's been a long time since I saw a 14 minute track among the threes and fours. BBC 6 says the band members lobby for the remanning of lighthouses.
God help us if the radiation leaks
God help us if nobody knows for weeks
But a little electricity won't hurt
No, a little electricity won't hurtfrom "Childhood Memories"

No discussion of British sea power is complete without this term. See also the Phonecian, Roman, Venetian, and American empires.

this band image really warms my heart. I have based my band on historical references as well - my album "Grain Sales of 1840" for instance, and band name of The Museum Pieces. thanks for enlightening me as to their existence!I believe they have stolen a bit of thunder for my next release - based around the expeditions of Lewis and Clark.
