Billy Campbell and Jimmy Cowan are having a wee nip in heaven tonight because we won 1-0 over Holland today. #58 beating #5 in the world. Magic.
Scotland manager Berti Vogts was very proud of his players and hailed the level of commitment shown by everyone in a blue shirt at Hampden. "The first half was brilliant - the best performance in my time," Vogts told the BBC. "There was great combination play for the goal and all the players worked so hard. We made a great start and upset them (the Dutch). In the second half we were under a lot of pressure but we go to Amsterdam with a lead. They need to score two goals now. We scored in Germany, so we can maybe score in Amsterdam - then they need three goals.Ja, Berti. See you in Amsterdam next Wednesday for the second match. Mid-afternoon kick-off on the BBC webcast. Shut your door so the boss can't hear it. Or hear you say "Hoots...Och...The Noooooooooo!"

Well: generally speaking this (Dutch) team is so bad, that they don't even deserve to be in the Euro 2004. Second leg in Amsterdam you said?? Oh... In that case I hope the Oranges make it :-)

Either way, these are my two favorite European teams so I will be happy but if Scotland were actually to make the finals that would be a great victory. I do not know why the Dutch do so poorly with such great players. I suppose in the old days of total football, half the team played together for Ajax.

Note the correct usage in the first comment: Second *leg*. And the Torygraph today says cricket is being played in The Bronx. Life is good.

Quite right with "leg." Now how about "tie." Why is are the matches in the FA Cup rounds called ties before they are played?
