It looks like someone is going to do the right thing in the Arar case: Colin Powell. Meanwhile, our men who know men in shades continues to stall:
Solicitor General Wayne Easter refused again Wednesday to give "operational details" of RCMP or CSIS actions at the time. Chretien has rejected a public inquiry pending an investigation by an RCMP public complaints commission. But during a caucus meeting Wednesday, he told his MPs the government is taking steps to get answers.Remember when Ministers screwed up - they quit? Remember when we had Federal Royal Commissions - to uncover what when wrong when government screwed up. Perhaps Mr. Powell will accept the appointment for the Commission from PM Martin after he steps down as US Secretary of State next fall.
Later: Why did the UK public immediately demand and get an inquiry into the death of Dr. Kelly where it was clear that there was government implication at some level. Their head of spies was accountable to the people. Why are ours not?

More details from Colin Powell coming out. I guess Easter's "operational details" were that we ponied up the information that set the whole thing in motion. So who is responsible for the screw up? We are! Will we have an inquiry to find out why one of our own citizens was wrongly sent to a third world terrorist nation cage? Doubt it - because we like to cover our own sweet arses!
