I got a couple of really helpful emails from Keith at Electron about recording sound. He pointed out that he, like Steve, also has a shows in his web page and, like Steve, he is a webbie - systems programmer. He wrote:
I don't know if you noticed, but I make 45 minute long 'radio' shows (as mp3s) and post them to www.electronmusictoronto.com. I'll explain how I do that, and perhaps that will help you...[This does not sound like rocket science. Once I can conquer this, I will be sure to move on to establish a place for smell via the web.]1. I record my show to tape.
2. I play the tape into my PCs sound card, and record it as a wav file using
3. I use the a command line utility that encodes wav files as mp3s.
By the way, I think it is smart for Electron to make the music available through the shows so that we can know what to buy. I kinda feel that many of the artists he represents are experimenting and it respects that so are we, the listener.
