The sense that 2004 is the year the Yankees get pounded by the Red Sox is like spreading like blood in water. We got Curt Schilling; A decent guy at second base. I would like to see Vladdy a Bosock (singular?) as well.
I just, however, don't get the move to get A-Rod and trade Nomah. Apparently, though, Nomah had a hand in it:
The potential transaction has been driven in part by Boston owner John W. Henry's belief that he may not be able to sign Garciaparra to a multiyear extension of his contract, which expires after next season. Garciaparra spurned a four-year, $60 million offer in spring training that would have kept him in Boston until he was 35 in 2008.Apart from the sense of wages gone nutty, are these guys commodities that can be weighed against the other so that Nomah is clearly the loser in the beauty contest? Regardless, I like Millar's attitude.

hey millar is also the guy who last year said that manny was the "big dawg" on which the entire offence relied. this is a deal in which youre dropping two big bats for one and i'm thinking that the curse is potentially in high gear if this goes through. i see a scenario where a-rod gets hurts the second game of the season and they never recover. odornez is very good, but he's not manny or nomar, not yet, and this is a franchise that wants to win yesterday.
they only needed pitching and to sign nomar. i'm holding my breath, not wishing for a-rod, until the second task is done. either one of those guys can carry you in any given week in august. besides manny is way cheaper than a-rod at any rate (how whacked is that?).
i guess i just love manny is all. he's like an idiot savant of the rbi. so what if he lives in his own world. there's this sad need here in new england for everybody on the red sox to love it here, to embrace the red sox nation, to say nice things about beloved fenway park. give me pedro's attitude over millar's; he said a week earlier that you don't have to be happy to play baseball. that's something that steinbrenner has always known.
holy dancing sea monkeys.

I take it delivery #2 of 3 arrived. Who can resist the Yuletide thrill of sharing Sea Monkeys on Mars.
On the Bosox, you have captured my feeling exactly. A-Rod is no hero. Manny and Nomah has been great - why reach for a savior when you have been great on your own. I meant Millar is great as he is a keen team player with the right attitude - not that he is as wise as portland in his enthusiasm.
