Paraphrasing from a saying about beer, electricity makes you feel like you wished you felt like when you didn't have electricity. Thank God I am a radio nerd with batteries.
I am sure the drop in humidity and temperature have as much to do with it but it is amazing what a grump I am without the juice for the things I do to pass the time. I wonder what part of this infrastructure that needs upgrading needs upgrading to keep up with idleness. We need neon signs because we can need them. How much power is used in Ontario to maintain the channel changing capacities of our sofas? Do we really need a massive public expansion of electrical infrastructure to maintain three TVs per household or VCR and microwave clocks or fairway sprinklers? It is the useless technologies that kill.
Before this happened I was thinking very hard about selling my '93 Golf. We now live in a city on a bus route to my work whic also has a bike path. My car sits all weekend as we use the van, a '93 Caravan. I hope I get off my arse and do the right thing. I hope the government and electric utilites do, too. If we are going to pay for an expansion, charge a premium for useless use.
