Steven Garrity -

Welcome to the Internet, old man.

Alan -

I still can't get used to it not being called the information superhighway...

Al Gore -

The information superhighway is my favourite superhighway.

(it's Steven - I couldn't resist)

4 entries and already a lie...

Humblebub -

Given the black shoes, a lie seems so - uh, natural. How is the finger?

Alan -

The pain has passed...the physical pain that is. [Said humblebub, by the way, caught my right index finget in the throttle bar of the rototiller he bought off me last weekend. Having had my arm cut to the bone once it is interesting to note that the pain involved was nothing like the job a rototiller throttle bar can do.]

Humblebub -

and a brave wee laddie he was. However, to be whining about it 6 days later....

Alan -

I deserved a sweetie...

apologies I stuttered again - must be the company of crows.

Whining whingeing lawyer. What is your finger caught in a rototiller compared to the meagre purse of a widow caught in the grasp of a lawyer? Already you are deeply missed. At 40 you would be the youngest of the middle aged instead of the most middle aged of the young. And we Boomers are so much more interesting. Why, we pinched the flag from the Christian Pavillion and the guestbook from the Russian while you were whining for fake Dutch Fudge. People blew dope in the student union because no one except the smokers knew what it was while you were calling out flash cards. Great blues guys came to Montreal. Hendrix played there and the real original surly Stones. All that you have missed, yet you still have all the pain of being 40. Weep, scrivener. (BTW,can we use HTML in this friggin' thing?)

Alan -

Hello Ogg. I will have to find out about the HTML. Being so young, I am unversed in this as so many other things.

One thing I am versed in - having spent some time with silverorange is a health disrespect for sympatico help guys. I just spent two hours trying to get my new internet connection set up (3 months free in Ontario, is Aliant so generous?) and then realized I had to turn off Kejp's DNS settings in my still operable Windows 95.

I think I just answered your HTML question with the link above.

abuIskander -

No, you could still use Kepj's DNS - in fact, it is wise to have a non-Sympatico secondary DNS in case that very world class org's DNS come under sttack or otherwise falls over. Are you <i>seriously</i> running Wndoze 95 after all that time at AgO?

Alan -

This website is administered through a Windows 95, Pentium 75, 1.2 Gig, 16 MB, RAM 1996, $3,200.00 clone. Sure it runs on shining world classy servers at silverorange but why do I need more to play with postings to the internet?

Stuff should last. Most of my stuff does. I have a 1993 VW golf that does everything I need it to. My golf clubs probably were bought at Canadian Tire in the late '80's. My 1991 Sony 2010 radio still pulls in weak stations even though Radio Berlin International fell not long after the Wall. My newest suit is from the fall of '97. My favorite T - Billy Bragg Canadian Tour '88.

Plus, I paid alot for this thing - way more than a basic computer costs now forgetting the inflation. Why should I ditch it if it still does what I need it to do?

Melda -

Congrats Al! I will add this to my favs and look in on you often.
Hope you're well.

Alan -

Hey, Mel. I will miss the soccer this summer - looking for another group here. When are you back?
